Susana and Henry’s wedding was a wild party! Coordinated by Maria of Save The Date NOLA, the ceremony took place in the Cabildo. At the conclusion of the ceremony, there was a second line parade, but with a unique twist. The brass band entered, and slowly made its way up the aisle toward the bride and groom, while playing a somber rendition of Just a Closer Walk with Thee, then erupted with a more upbeat song more typical of a second line as they led everyone downstairs and onto the streets of the French Quarter, with the parade ending up at Muriel’s (though Muriel’s is, of course, just steps away from the Cabildo, a longer route through the Quarter was chosen). At both the ceremony, and the first half of the reception, jazz clarinetist and vocalist Doreen Ketchens and her band provided the entertainment. Make no mistake… this kind lady comes across as quiet and modest, but she is an absolute rock star on the clarinet, and I don’t think you will find anyone who plays with as much heart as she does (you can find her performing on Royal Street throughout most of the year). Later, Jack Magic Entertainment was on hand to provide DJ services, and was great to work with as usual.
