Photographing a marriage proposal is simultaneously the most challenging, exciting, stressful, and joyful kind of photography session that I do! It takes quite a bit of preparation work. For a regular portrait session, we can just arrange for a time and place to meet, then casually move on to where we'll actually be shooting. But photographing a proposal requires that the spot be predetermined, as well as the how the proposal itself will happen. Because I have extensive experience with marriage proposal photography, I can help you pick a location (if you don't already have one in mind), and develop a plan for how to capture this amazing moment.

Of course, dynamic events like this sometimes don't go exactly as planned, so I need to be on my toes and ready to adapt if the situation changes. I also arrive at the location well ahead of our planned time, and I stealthily communicate my readiness via a text message. I do this not only to give myself extra travel time to make certain I am not late, but also to provide some wiggle room for you on the timing. This is because in most cases, the proposal is being worked into your other planned activities for the day, and it can be difficult and awkward to try to hit a precise time for you to reach our spot.

After the proposal, we'll continue with a mini engagement portrait around the area. This is always an enjoyable part of the session, as she will be glowing from the surprise and excitement of what just happened! You may choose to later have a full engagement portrait session, at another location and with different outfits, but the photographs from this proposal portrait session will still be unique and memorable.

Though my turnaround time for editing marriage proposal photography images is typically 2-3 weeks, I do get a couple of key images sent to you on the same day as the shoot, since this is big news that you will of course want to share immediately. I'll also post more sneak peeks to my instagram and blog.
