Nick popped the big question to Morgan at Popps Ferry Causeway Park in Biloxi, and I was there to capture this beautifully emotional moment (she said yes, of course!).
Though many people think marriage proposal photography can only be done by hiding in the bushes, I prefer a different approach. Instead, I hide in plain sight, pretending to be there photographing something else (in this case, documenting storm damage to a nearby pier), with the proposer having been previously instructed to approach me and ask me to take a photo of them with his cell phone (which is a perfectly common request these days). This allows me to discretely shift them around a little bit to get them into a more favorable position and angle in terms of light and background, while also minimizing the chances of a random bystander walking through at an inopportune moment.
Her joyous and surprised reaction made it clear that she had no idea what was coming! We followed up with a mini engagement portrait session around the area, and captured some beautiful images of the newly engaged couple.
