Pelicans on Parade is a community art project in Slidell, Louisiana. Nearly two hundred of these pelican scultures were sponsored by various organizations, each painted with its own theme. In some cases, the pelican's theme would be related to the sponsoring business, neighborhood, school, etc. where it was located, while others were given free-reign. This pirate-themed one, entitled "Honey Island Pete" was painted by artist Len Heatherly, and is located in front of an orthodontics office on Gause Blvd.
The project raised over $100,000 for the charity Children's Wish Endowment.
