These kinds of semi-candid wedding day couple portraits are my favorite! This photograph was captured in the grassy walkway that runs between the Pavilion of the Two Sisters and the Conservatory in New Orleans City Park's Botanical Gardens.
I had them walk along this pathway holding hands, as the bride held her dress up, which necessitated the groom holding the bouquet, and asked them to stop and kiss.
We had started out this couple's day with a first look, over at the lily pond by the conservatory.
We continued with some portraits of the bride and groom here and in other areas of the Botanical Garden.
Doing a first look enabled us to get the wedding party formal (and not-so-formal!) group shots done before the ceremony (though the couple chose to wait until after the ceremony to do the family groups).
The ceremony took place on the brick-paved patio area adjacent to the venue.
As the couple recessed down the aisle at the conclusion of the ceremony, he gave a celebratory fist pump to the delight of the crowd.
The reception took place inside the Pavilion of the Two Sisters.
The band No Idea provided the entertainment, and they wrapped up the event at the end of the night with a fabulous rendition of The Beatles' Hey Jude, with the couple standing in the middle of a large circle of guests singing the famous repeating end portion of the song, and was one of the most memorable moments of any wedding I've photographed.
The wedding was coordinated by InNOLA Events & Design, with Verde Beauty doing the hair and makeup, flowers by Meade Wenzel, and the cake by Haydel's.
