The bride and groom enjoy their first dance on the brick-paved courtyard of Maison De Tours in St. Martinville, LA. This is a lovely wedding venue that, in addition to the courtyard, also has some indoor space, as well as a bridal suite upstairs for the bridal party to get ready in.
We took advantage of the balcony to get this fun shot of the entire wedding party (with the bride and groom not being able to see each other, since they had not done a first look).
Before heading to the church, we did some pre-ceremony group shots down the street at Evangeline Oak Park, a beautiful setting for this stunning bride.
A historic marker plaque at the site reads: Evangeline Oak. Longfellow's poem "Evangeline" immortalized the tragedy of the Acadian exile from Nova Scotia in 1755. This oak marks the legendary meeting place of Emmeline Labiche and Louis Arceneaux, the counterparts of Evangeline and Gabriel.
The ceremony took place at Saint Martin De Tours, a historic church in this small town. Founded in 1765 by a group of Acadian exiles, the current structure was built in 1836 and dedicated on June 2, 1844.
Maison De Tours is conveniently located right across the street from the church, so the guests moved over to the venue in an unofficial second line parade featuring musicians from The Good Dudes, who also provided the reception entertainment.
The beautiful cake was crafted by Poupart's Bakery, while Flowers by Rodney was the florist.
At the end of the night, the couple was given a lavender send-off by the guests!
