I enjoyed working with this Mississippi couple for their engagement portrait several months ago, and they had a wonderful wedding ceremony at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Tommy Conway holding mass, and a lovely and fun reception at Grass Lawn in Gulfport. CA Video Productions was on hand to film the event, and were great to work with.
During the reception, the father of Jesica’s friend Katie (whose wedding I photographed last year) sat in with the band and sang a few songs, much to the crowd’s delight! The bouquet toss was great. As you can see in the photos shown below, the two girls in blue were both so determined to catch it, the others wisely stood back (the throw was just a little too high for the girl in light blue, and although she got a hand on it, the girl in dark blue came away with the catch).
Grass Lawn was built in 1836 by a Louisiana surgeon to be used as a summer home. Many years later, it was sold to the city, and it began to be used for public and private events. Sadly, the original building was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, but a replica was constructed in its place. It’s beachfront location, classic Greek Revival architecture, and spacious grounds make it an ideal venue for Mississippi Gulf Coast weddings.
