I had a great time with this delightful couple at Moviesets: a Reel Venue in Slidell. This is a fascinating location that, in addition to being a venue for weddings and other events, primarily serves as a working prop house for the movie and television industry. There are a dozen or so “sets” each with its own theme, containing many interesting items that were actually used in motion pictures. It’s a great spot for an engagement portrait, and if you are looking for a non-traditional, quirky wedding venue that will be unlike anything else your guests have ever experienced, this one should be at the top of your list!
We then headed to beautiful Camp Salmen Nature Park to finish off the portrait session with some outdoor shots. Camp Salmen was originally created when Slidell businessman Fritz Salmen donated a large tract of land to the Boy Scouts. The organization remained here, using this site for various activities, until eventually relocating to Mississippi because of a need for more space. The land was later purchased by St. Tammany Parish, and was opened to the public as a nature park.
