I first met Amanda about 8 years ago when I photographed her for her senior portrait session, and I was thrilled to work with her again, for her wedding celebration this time! The location she chose was The Barn of Pearl River, a lovely rustic venue in the rural town of Pearl River, Louisiana, which is not too far from Slidell and only about an hour from New Orleans as well. This beautiful barn was constructed several years ago, using repurposed wood, and has a genuinely rustic yet elegant look.
The front of the barn was a great spot for our group shots, the large tree the graces the grounds adjacent to the structure was where the ceremony took place, officiated by Amanda’s uncle. The start time of about an hour before sunset gave us just enough time after the ceremony to get the remaining formal group photographs done and some portraits of the couple in daylight. Though this couple’s reception primarily took place inside the barn, the outdoor area can be utilized as well.
Marguerite’s Cakes crafted the beautiful wedding cake as well as the classic crawfish pot groom’s cake, and the Unique Weddings in New Orleans team coordinated the event.
