Though I specialize in weddings and wedding-related portraits, I also enjoy non-wedding portraits when I have the opportunity. I had a great time photographing these adorable and perfectly behaved girls and their mom at Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville. Ample cloud cover on this late afternoon provided some pleasantly soft light to work with. This sprawling park was actually at one time a sugar plantation, owned by the man who founded the town of Mandeville, and features the interesting brick remains of the plantation’s old sugar mill, dating back to the late 1820s. There are countless gorgeous old oak trees to shoot by, and the abundant chains of Spanish moss gracefully draping down just about everywhere you look makes for a very picturesque backdrop for all kinds of portrait photography, such as family and children, bridals, or engagements.
