This couple were guests at Briana and Charles’ wedding the night before at The Gallery Venue at Tomas, and Briana had the idea to bring me in to photograph Edward’s proposal to Gaby that was planned for the following afternoon on the Langles Bridge in City Park. I’ve always thought that the Langles Bridge would be a great place for a proposal, but it’s not without risk, given the possibility that someone could come across the bridge at an inopportune time. But we had a pretty good plan for ensuring the coast was clear.
At the prearranged time, I was in position near the bridge, pretending to be shooting portraits (with my assistant standing in as the subject). Briana then “noticed” me as their group approached the bridge, saying “I think that’s my photographer from last night over there.” Coming over to say hi, I offered to take a photo of each of the two couples at the top of the bridge, starting with Briana and Charles first, then it was Gaby and Edward’s turn. And that was his cue!
It went perfectly, and we followed up with a few more portraits of the newly-engaged couple, including with them holding a print of their dogs wearing “our parents are getting married” bandanas.
