I photographed Katy’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, which was loads of fun, and Katy & Kris’s wedding was fantastic as well! The bride got ready at the Henry Howard House, and then we headed over to the ceremony and reception venue, the elegant Elms Mansion on St. Charles Avenue. The bride and groom shared an emotional first look in a quiet area of the garden, which was great to photograph but also enabled us to get most of the formal group shots done before the ceremony. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, this couple opted for a massive tiered display of assorted cupcakes, which looked quite impressive (and tasted great too). The chinese lanterns and stringed lights looked great and added a wonderful ambiance to the nighttime event. During the reception, Katy sat in with the band, and with a spot-on Satchmo voice, sang Louis Armstrong’s What Wonderful World!
