Sometimes a Second Line parade takes place at the end of the end of the wedding. But other times, the parade happens right after the ceremony, either to move everyone to the reception venue, or, if the reception is located in the same place as the ceremony, to clear the guests out and let them have some fun while the space is being turned around.
Such was the case with this same-sex wedding at the Terrell House Bed and Breakfast on Magazine Street in New Orleans, with this beautiful pair of Texas brides and the Storyville Stompers brass band leading the guests through the streets for a truly memorable experience!
This parade was particularly special, as although Second Lines are a frequent occurrence in the streets of the French Quarter, they are less common for weddings taking place in other areas of the city. Regardless, there is no better way to either get the party started, or to cap off the end of a fabulous reception.
As you've probably guessed by this point, I'm perfectly comfortable photographing same same-sex weddings, and do so on a regular basis!
