This Mississippi couple had a delightfully intimate wedding at the Ocean Springs Community Center, with guests giving them a confetti streamer send-off at the conclusion of the ceremony. Afterward, before the group headed off to celebrate, we had some time for portraits of the bride and groom around the area. We finished up with some fun shots of the guys pretending to be up to no good in the adjacent parking lot!
This building was constructed in the late 1940s, and in the early 1950s, Gulf Coast artist Walter Anderson embarked on a project to decorate the interior walls with murals depicting various aspects of the area’s history and ecology. Although not particularly appreciated by residents at the time, this artwork has come to be loved, and a museum bearing the artist’s name was later constructed alongside the community center.
