This New York couple came down to New Orleans to get married. The bride got ready at Melrose Mansion on Esplanade Avenue, and that’s where the couple had their first look as well. After the first look, we strolled around that relatively quiet area along the eastern edge of the French Quarter for some portraits. We then headed into the heart of the French Quarter near Latrobe’s for a few more portraits in Exchange Place.
High up on the bride’s wish list was a relaxed photo of the two of them on the staircase inside Latrobe’s, wearing Mardi Gras masks.
The ceremony incorporated cultural traditions from both families.
During the couple’s first dance both of them hopped on stage with the Bucktown Allstars, with the groom on keyboard and the bride on trumpet. I challenge anyone to name another wedding where the bride and groom broke from their first dance, and joined in with the band!
The couple later changed into different outfits. It was a fabulous reception with lots of action to capture. The event wrapped up with a festive Second Line parade through the French Quarter, ending up at Pat O’Briens!
When the bride saw this sneak preview blog post about a week after the wedding, she had these kind words for me:
“Oh my God, Michael, these are AMAZING!!! Thank you for capturing exactly what I was envisioning. I’m so looking forward to the rest of the photos!”
This was followed by this delightful compliment after the full gallery was sent a few weeks later:
“Thank you Michael!!!! I don’t have the words to describe how much I love these pictures. We haven’t stopped flipping through them, it will be hard to pick our favorites!!”
