This wedding was a perfect example of how it doesn’t hurt to inquire about my availability even at the last minute… this couple booked just 3 weeks before the wedding! And I’m thrilled that I had the date open, because it was such a fun event to photograph. The ceremony took place at St. Anna’s Episcopal Church on Esplanade Avenue, right at the edge of the French Quarter. This is a pleasant church to shoot at, with friendly staff and clergy, and great musicians too. We then headed to the Faubourg Marigny where the reception was held at Auld Sweet Olive Bed & Breakfast, which happens to be owned and operated by the bride! The B&B was nicely decorated with a lot of historically interesting pieces, as well as lots of fascinating photographs from Nancy’s previous career as a television producer. Rather than a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for a delicious doberge cake. The fabulous Joe Simon Band jazz trio provided lively New Orleans entertainment for the afternoon event, and it was a delightful gathering of wonderful people!
