Our Lady of Good Counsel Wedding & Audubon Tea Room Reception

Ashley and Todd’s wedding took place on a pleasantly mild January evening. We started out with coverage of the bride getting ready at Terrell House Bed and Breakfast on Magazine Street, where Melissa Vacarro and Catherine Braud took care of makeup and hair. The Terrell House staff was kind enough to give us the use of the beautiful courtyard for a few group shots and some portraits of the bride. The ceremony took place at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. I’d last photographed a wedding here back in 2008, and soon afterward the church was shut down by the Archdiocese of New Orleans in a controversial and upsetting move. I was pleased to hear that the church was reopened about a year ago after an extensive renovation project, and it looks fantastic! The interior of the church was nicely lit and photographed well, and the staff was a pleasure to work with.

We then headed to the fabulous Audubon Tea Room for the reception, with this spacious venue accommodating the approximately 300 guests that were present. Entertainment was provided by the band The Refugeeze, who were fantastic. On hand to video the event were Lillie and Kirk from One Louder Productions, and the Unique Weddings in New Orleans staff made sure everything ran smoothly. Glenda Ivy did the gorgeous flowers, and Nikki Lefort created the beautiful and delicious cakes.

At the end of the night, the bride and groom departed through a shower of bubbles blown by friends and family (with the added help of a couple of bubble machines)!
