Photographing a marriage proposal is always exciting, and I was happy to be on hand to capture this special moment for this Baton Rouge couple. Reed chose Oak Alley Plantation as the location where he would pop the big question to Emily. I usually try to schedule a marriage proposal at Oak Alley for as early in the morning as possible, typically about 8:30-9:00, as the light is better. Plus, there’s a better chance that fewer people will be on the walkway, because at that time the tour buses from New Orleans will have just started to arrive, and most visitors will tour the home first.
But in this case, there was some rain in the forecast for the early morning. So, we decided to push back our time by a couple of hours. It actually ended up not raining (at least not significantly), but that was still the safer option.
We finished up with some portraits of the newly engaged couple around the grounds.
