I enjoyed participating in Garrett Field’s first ever wedding open house event last week, which served both as an opportunity for interested couples to tour this fabulous Slidell venue, and a mini bridal show with numerous great wedding vendors on hand.
Though the term “unique” is sometimes loosely thrown around when describing event spaces, it absolutely fits this Slidell wedding venue. Located about 35 minutes from New Orleans, this sprawling 130 acre property features a mix of open fields (which doubles as polo training grounds), wooded trails, swampland, and waterways.
On the wedding day, both the 1960s vintage main house and the loft above the stables are available as getting ready space for both sides of the wedding party. For an especially stress-free experience, these accommodations can be rented for an overnight stay.
There are a variety of options for the ceremony location, depending on how many guests are attending and the particular aesthetic that appeals to the couple, such as a large oak tree, the lawn with the main house as the backdrop, or in front of the barn. The main reception space is an open air pavilion that was repurposed and reimagined from its former life as a private airplane hangar.
